Job Description
General Summary:
Supports plastics packaging analytical laboratory by performing testing under the supervision of an analytical chemist.
Essential Functions:
Supports food packaging product and process development initiatives at the Novolex Canandaigua Technology Center along with production troubleshooting and quality assurance. Materials include polymers and fiber-based packaging.
Responsibilities include:
- Running analytical equipment
- Intrinsic Viscometer
- Capillary Rheometer
- Melt Indexer
- FTIR DSC TGA Instron
- Reporting results to internal customers independently
- Interacting with customers to discuss results
- Storing and managing samples
- Receiving labeling and logging samples
- Safely handling chemicals and solvents
- Follow company safety procedures and policies.
- Actively supports safety programs and maintains a safe and clean working environment in all areas at all times.
- Provide miscellaneous support to projects and programs as requested.
Education
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- 2 yr associates degree in technology or technical trades and/or 3 years of lab experience
Skills and Training
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment and chemicals.
- Highly organized inquisitive problem solver. Able to handle multiple tasks accurately and with a strong sense of urgency. Able to manage shifting priorities.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience working in and with teams.
- Reliable self-motivated proactive and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Able to work flexible hours and overtime when required.
