Job Summary

The paraprofessional will work closely with an assigned elementary school teacher and support them in their duties. Typical tasks include working with students in groups and individually during lessons and providing assistance during lunch duty. Objectives of this RoleProvide instructional reinforcement under the direction of the classroom teacherServe as a positive nurturing guide for studentsModel professional and ethical standards when dealing with students parents staff and community following and upholding school rules and standardsSafely supervise students in and out of the classroomDaily and Monthly ResponsibilitiesAttend to students physical personal academic and emotional needsSupervise students during lunch and passing periods verify and track student attendancePerform clerical duties such as typing filing and photocopying; grade tests and homework recording the resultsEstablish and maintain collaborative working relationships with students parents and staff to enhance the instructional environment; participate in parent-teacher and faculty meetings and eventsSkills and QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredProven experience working with studentsEffective communication skills; oral written and visual with adults and childrenUnderstanding of basic principles of childhood developmentFamiliarity with educational software or willingness to learnPreferred QualificationsBachelors degree in early childhood development or educationTeaching certification(s)HQ Praxis Associates Degree 60 College HoursAAA Schedule for Paraprofessional165 Day Contract2 weeks off in October1 week off in November2 weeks of December2 weeks off in MarchOff on Federal Holidays
