Job Summary

Position: ESY Physical Therapist

Position Type: Part-time hourly

Department: Extended School Year - Summer 2026

Location: Hosmer Elementary School

Reports to: ESY Coordinators

Salary range: $25 for PTA $42 for PT

Shift: up to 10 hours Monday-Thursday

Dates: July 6 - Aug 6 2026

Positions: 1 Physical Therapist 1 PT Assistant

General Description:

The Extended School Year (ESY) offers specialized instruction and related services to students beyond the regular school year. Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants in the Watertown Public Schools Extended School Year (ESY) program provide specialized services to support students in developing mobility strength balance and motor coordination skills necessary for accessing their education. These services help students maintain progress on their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and prevent regression over the summer months.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct individual small group and/or large group instruction to address students IEP goals/objectives specifically in physical therapy.
  • Prepare challenging and therapeutic lessons (requires some planning work outside of regular program hours).
  • Differentiate instruction.
  • Establish a productive learning environment and classroom culture in which all students are respected.
  • Maintain timely student attendance and progress records.
  • Consult with teachers and other related service providers to address students needs.
  • Provide students families site coordinators and program staff with relevant and timely data including monitoring and reporting students progress to prevent regression as outlined in the program.
  • Participate in all designated professional development.
  • Care for program materials and resources.
  • Engage as a partner in planning and problem solving as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as requested by the ESY Site Coordinator when available.

Qualifications Required:

  • Massachusetts License as a Physical Therapist.
  • Knowledge and expertise of equipment required for the support of students within an educational environment.
  • Holds the belief that all children can learn
  • Classroom management experience

Preferred:

  • Supervisory Experience preferred for Physical Therapist

    • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Autism Intellectual Impairment Multiple Disabilities Physical Disabilities Specific Learning Disability Emotional Impairment Early Childhood.

  • CPR/First Aid Certification
