Current enrolled Northeastern University students only.

This will be a full-time position with a requirement of 36-40 hours per week.


Job Summary

Summary
Working under the direction of licensed personnel assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing dressing and eating.

Essential Functions
-Performs vital signs weights/heights intakes and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.

-Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.

-Interacts with patients and their families effectively.

-Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks.

-This may include bathing and dressing patients helping them use the toilet if needed and feeding them.

-Assists with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.

-Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.


Qualifications

In order to serve the Northeastern University nursing community better Massachusetts General Hospital provided a list of Clinical units looking to support a Nursing Students Coop.

The duties of Patient Care Associate Trainee (PCA) include:

  • Assisting the healthcare team; the PCA promotes a safe and caring environment for patients under the guidance of an RN.

  • PCA assists patients with daily living needs monitoring & reading vital signs drawing blood and obtaining EKGs.

  • Responds to patient requests in a timely manner safeguarding patient confidentiality monitoring patient safety and always communicating in a respectful manner.

  • General Surgery

  • Neurology

  • Orthopedics

  • Ortho/Urology

  • Oncology

  • Medical/Oncology

  • Pediatrics

  • Labor & Delivery

  • Inpatient Psych

  • Gynecology/Surgery

  • Cardiac Access

  • Cardiac Arrythmia Step

Must have previous Coop or Clinical experience for all Intensive Care units which include:

  • Multidisciplinary ICU

  • Neuro ICU

  • Medical ICU

  • Cardiac Surgical ICU

  • Pediatrics ICU

Requirements:

  • CPR: Either American Red Cross or and American Heart Association for Health Care Providers is required. Any other provider of CPR certification will not be accepted.

  • Education Level: Enrolled sophomore to senior nursing students
