Job Summary

Job Description:

A Shift Engineer in a steel manufacturing power plantsupervises shift operations (DCS boiler turbine and BOP) to ensure efficient safe and continuous power generation. Responsibilities include monitoring equipment parameters managing startups/shutdowns conducting preventive maintenance enforcing safety protocols (PTW) and troubleshooting while managing technicians to minimize breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Control:Independently manage the power plant control room specifically DCS to control parameters for boilers turbines and turbines.
Safety & Compliance:Enforce Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems statutory regulations and safety protocols to prevent accidents particularly concerning high-tension (HT/LT) systems.
Equipment Maintenance:Plan and execute breakdown and preventive maintenance on motors panels and machinery to ensure uninterrupted power to the steel plant.
Emergency Response:Lead the handling of equipment trips emergency shutdowns and startups.
Reporting:Prepare shift reports log operating parameters and update maintenance records.
Resource Management:Supervise technicians and operators managing manpower for optimal performance.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education:Bachelors degree (B.E./) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Experience:Previous experience in a Captive Power Plant (CPP) within a steel cement or similar heavy industry.
Technical Skills:Proficiency in PLC/DCS systems thorough knowledge of turbine and boiler operations and troubleshooting skills.
Leadership:Strong team management and decision-making capabilities in high-pressure situations.

Common Certifications

Boiler Operation Engineer (BOE) certification is often preferred for mechanical roles.

Common Locations for this role in India

Raipur Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh) and industrial hubs with heavy steel manufacturing.
