Job Summary

3 months contract with local authority

The Senior Social Worker role is pivotal in delivering social work interventions for children young people families and carers ensuring outcomes are achieved through a strengths-based approach. This position supports the Team Manager in providing effective services tailored to individual needs aligning with the BASW Professional Capabilities Framework for Social Work England. The role involves managing complex caseloads leading change initiatives and contributing to strategic organizational improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Independently apply relevant legislation policy procedures and social work theory.
  • Manage a caseload of vulnerable and complex service users.
  • Oversee clinical management of staff including NQSWs students and Social Workers.
  • Collaborate on cases with less experienced staff.
  • Support the operational delivery of statutory duties in line with legislation.
  • Lead organizational change to enhance quality and outcomes.
  • Participate in strategic groups and quality assurance activities.
  • Develop and implement strengths-based social work interventions.
  • Promote prevention and community-based solutions.
  • Ensure consistent practice with a strengths-based and positive risk-taking approach.
  • Foster constructive relationships with children young people and families.
  • Contribute to staff training and promote family support ethos.
  • Provide expert opinions on complex cases and serve as a resource for colleagues.
  • Uphold quality standards and cost-effectiveness in service delivery.
  • Utilize legal options for safeguarding and personalized approaches.
  • Engage in case reviews quality assurance and audits.
  • Collaborate with internal and external agencies for service delivery.
  • Support key performance indicators and budgetary controls.
  • Maintain timely case recording and promote this practice within the team.
  • Promote equality and adhere to health and safety responsibilities.
  • Stay informed on contemporary social work issues and reforms.
  • Lead and support team members on complex cases.
  • Assist the Team Leader in team development.
  • Address poor performance and promote continuous improvement.
  • Undertake clinical management of team colleagues.
  • Perform additional duties as delegated by the Team Manager.


Requirements

Requirements:
  • Experience in managing complex caseloads and vulnerable service users.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation policy and social work theory.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage staff including NQSWs and students.
  • Experience in strategic planning and quality assurance activities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with internal and external partners.
  • Commitment to strengths-based approaches and promoting equality.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of social work issues and reforms.
  • Ability to manage performance and drive continuous improvement.
