Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Workday HCM Consultant to lead functional design configuration and optimization of Core HCM modules. The ideal candidate will drive clarity in ambiguous requirements deliver scalable solutions and partner closely with HR IT and business stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and user experience.


Key Responsibilities

Functional Leadership

  • Lead functional design configuration and management of Core HCM modules including:

    • Benefits

    • Talent

    • Payroll

    • Compensation / Advanced Compensation

    • Absence

    • Time Entry

    • Learning

  • Translate ambiguous business requirements into well-defined scalable solutions.

  • Deliver system enhancements aligned with enterprise objectives.

  • Support system upgrades product releases and troubleshooting efforts.

  • Engage stakeholders across HR IT and business functions.


Operational Excellence

  • Optimize business processes while balancing configuration scope and resource constraints.

  • Create functional solution documentation and user job aids.

  • Measure and continuously improve process effectiveness and user experience.

  • Promote module adoption through impactful training sessions.

  • Stay current with Workday best practices and emerging features.


Governance & Security

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and security requirements:

    • FLSA (time tracking overtime payroll compliance)

    • IRS Payroll Tax Compliance (PECI integrations tax withholding rules)

    • Global Payroll compliance (e.g. HMRC UK GST/VAT Canada Revenue Agency)

    • Wage Theft Prevention & Local Labor Laws

    • HIPAA (benefits/healthcare data protection)

    • GDPR (EU data privacy compliance)

    • SOX controls & Workday role-based security (domains business process policies segregation of duties)

  • Handle sensitive employee data responsibly.


Team & Leadership Contribution

  • Participate in hiring and mentoring team members.

  • Provide assessments of other Workday resources.

  • Foster a high-performing team environment that thrives independently.

  • Balance short-term deliverables with long-term strategic goals.

  • Drive excellence and continuous improvement across the team.


Required Experience

  • 5 years of ERP platform experience with successful enterprise-level implementations.

  • 3 years of hands-on Workday experience preferred.

  • Experience with other ERP platforms is a plus such as:

    • PeopleSoft

    • Lawson

    • SAP

  • Workday Pro or Workday Partner Certification (preferred).

  • Extensive experience in at least 3 Core HCM modules.

  • Strong understanding of business process optimization and operational support.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and SDLC tools (e.g. Jira Azure DevOps).
