Job Summary

About the Opportunity
Our client a well-established and growing construction company in the Woodstock GA area is seeking a Construction Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing job cost accounting financial reporting WIP management and partnering with operations to drive project profitability.
This position is ideal for a hands-on construction accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys building processes managing teams and supporting executive decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting & Close
- Oversee monthly quarterly and annual financial statement preparation
- Manage the general ledger and ensure timely and accurate month-end close
- Develop and maintain budgets forecasts and cash flow projections
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to senior leadership
- Job Costing & WIP
- Lead job cost accounting and cost tracking across multiple projects
- Prepare and review Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
- Ensure accurate percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
- Analyze project performance and identify cost variances
- Partner with project managers on forecasting and margin improvement
- Compliance & Controls
- Maintain strong internal controls and accounting procedures
- Ensure GAAP compliance and alignment with construction accounting standards
- Coordinate with external auditors CPA firms and tax advisors
- Oversee AP AR payroll and lien waiver processes
- Manage bonding insurance reporting and surety relationships
- Leadership & Systems
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff
- Evaluate and optimize accounting/ERP systems and reporting tools
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- 510 years of accounting experience including construction industry experience
- Strong knowledge of job cost accounting WIP reporting and POC revenue recognition
- Experience with construction ERP systems (Sage Foundation Viewpoint or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Strong leadership communication and analytical abilities
