TENURE TRACK POSITION IN MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART HISTORY
Scripps College a womens liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Modern and Contemporary (20th and 21st century) Art History to begin in the Fall of 2026. In addition to a foundation in European and U.S. art histories candidates whose research and teaching intersect with art of the Global South gender and sexuality critical disability studies or theories of art and architectural history are especially encouraged to apply. The teaching load is four courses per year (2/2) plus senior thesis advising. The candidate will be expected to offer survey courses in European Modernism the Art World Since 1989 as well as upper-division seminars in the Program in Art History at the ClaremontColleges. Participation in the Core Curriculum in Interdisciplinary Humanities program atScrippsCollegeis also expected. Ph.D. degree must be complete by the positions start date and teaching experience equivalent to one year (four courses) is required.
