Purpose of Position:

Assess suitable suppliers who provide value to the company through competitive bidding and negotiation processes collaborating with relevant stakeholders to finalize contractual agreements. Coordinate tax legal and insurance reviews; obtain all necessary approvals; and oversee supplier adherence to contractual obligations. Ensure timely updates to contract information within the management system.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with relevant internal stakeholders to assess needs and determine specific requirements for contractual agreements;
  • Identify suitable suppliers through internal research or Requests for Information (RFIs);
  • Issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and manage communications throughout the competitive bidding process;
  • Evaluate RFPs using standardized evaluation matrices to select the most qualified suppliers;
  • Develop negotiation strategies in consultation with relevant internal stakeholders;
  • Organize and lead meetings with suppliers involving relevant internal stakeholder representatives as needed;
  • Consult with legal department to adequately protect the company and ensure enforceability of supplier obligations; secure tax and insurance approvals as required;
  • Identify and pursue cost-saving and reduction initiatives providing regular updates to senior management;
  • Participate in procurement policy amendments and promote procurement best practices and tools among customer departments;
  • Maintain organized contract documentation in a central repository monitor key contract commitments against supplier invoices and ensure proper workflows and approvals;
  • Provide weekly progress reports on competitive bidding and contract activities to senior management and executives;
  • Attend departmental meetings that impact contracting processes and performance;
  • Execute responsibilities in alignment with established policies and procedures prioritizing personal and collective safety; and
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications:

Education and Professional Designations

  • Undergraduate or other relevant post-secondary education is required; and
  • Supply Chain Management Professional Designation considered an asset.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook); and
  • Strong leadership skills interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in competitive bid arrangements supplier sourcing and development;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in contract negotiations and implementation;

Additional Qualifications

  • Previous experience or training in purchasing and/or procurement considered an asset; and
  • Experience with SAP Ariba considered an asset.

Language Requirements

  • English language fluency is required.
