Position Purpose:

Serves as an expert respiratory therapist who assures theoptimumutility and appropriateness of respiratory services through the application of current knowledge for care planning and delivery. Thoroughly assesses the patients requirements functions as part of the care delivery team collaborates with physicians by providing evidence-based input to develop and implement care plans and intervenes when necessary to affect the best possible outcome for the patient and family. Oversees the performance of other staff and students as it relates to procedural standards educational opportunities and implementation of services.

What the Registered Respiratory TherapistIIIWill Do:

  • Functions as an expert respiratory therapist who assures theoptimumutility and appropriateness of respiratory services through the application of current knowledge for care planning and delivery. Performstherapist drivenprotocols patient assessments administration of medications and evaluates patient response to therapies. Documents s performance and results of therapies. Performs all actions (therapeutic and diagnostic) according to policy and procedure

  • Participatesin the education of patient family and health care providers

  • Accuratelymaintainsthe Order Entry and Charging system related to servicesrendered

  • Assistswith data collection and projects for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and the Respiratory CareDepartmentprocess improvement plan.

  • Supervises andassistsin the training of new employees and students

  • Cleans assemblesmaintainsand troubleshoots all Respiratory Care Department equipment whileutilizingsupplies and resources in a cost-effective manner.

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Participates as a member of the CPR team.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Performs in charge duties as assigned

  • Performs other duties as assigned to assure efficient operation of the Respiratory Care Department

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree with Respiratory Therapy major.

  • Completed level I II and III therapist competency validation requirements

  • Respiratory Care Practitioner licensure by the State of Michigan.

  • Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

  • BCLS certification.

  • Two years experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist plus a minimum of 2years experience.

  • Proficient to Expert level inall ofthe major Adult and Neonatal ICU applications of Respiratory Caredemonstratedby successful completion of the Departments Competency Assessment Examinations
