Job Summary: The Director of Human Resources reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer leads the development and implementation of HR strategies that align with The Accelerated Schools mission and goals. The role oversees recruitment retention compliance employee relations and staff development for both certificated and classified employees promoting a positive and inclusive workplace. The ideal candidate possesses broad HR expertise and a strong understanding of employment laws policies and best practices.
What You Will Do
Strategic Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership in developing and implementing human resources initiatives that align with the organizations mission and goals.
- Oversee all areas of talent management compliance employee relations and organizational development while fostering a positive inclusive and high-performing workplace culture.
- Research design and recommend innovative HR programs to attract retain and develop a diverse and effective workforce.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws California Education Code collective bargaining agreements and board policies.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Chief Human Resources Officer.
Talent Strategy Recruitment and Onboarding
- Direct and manage the recruitment screening interviewing selection background checking placement and transfer of classified and certificated personnel.
- Ensure all teachers hold appropriate credentials are correctly placed on salary schedules and meet state and district qualification standards.
- Develop and implement comprehensive talent strategies and professional development plans to promote employee growth and advancement.
- Plan and implement strategies to expand workforce diversity and ensure equitable hiring and employment practices.
- Oversee onboarding orientation and induction programs for new employees including coordination with LACOE LAUSD and other education partners.
- Coordinate student teacher placements and residency programs in collaboration with colleges and universities.
Employee Relations Evaluation and Development
- Guide and monitor employee evaluation processes for certificated classified and management staff to ensure timely completion and consistency across sites.
- Guide administrators and managers on personnel policies regulations collective bargaining agreements and employment law.
- Conduct or oversee investigations into employee complaints discipline Title IX matters and violations of policy or law.
- Provide counseling and support to employees regarding career development credentialing and working conditions.
- Conduct exit interviews analyze turnover trends and develop retention strategies.
- Coordinate employee recognition professional learning and performance improvement initiatives.
Labor Relations and Compliance
- Serve as a key member of the management negotiations team assisting in contract development interpretation and management of collective bargaining agreements.
- Ensure compliance with affirmative action discrimination harassment and Title IX regulations.
- Develop and deliver required HR compliance and training programs for management and staff.
- Represent the organization in the resolution of grievances complaints and compliance issues.
Personnel Administration and Operations
- Maintain confidential personnel files and accurate HR data including budgeted positions staffing levels and employee status changes.
- Oversee leaves of absence accommodations under FEHA workers compensation cases retirements and employee separations.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining the personnel budget tracking attrition and forecasting staffing needs.
- Prepare required reports for county state and federal agencies audits oversight and accreditation visits.
- Maintain and update HR policies and employee handbooks.
Customer Service and Collaboration
- Foster open responsive communication with employees management and external partners.
- Promote a culture of professionalism collaboration and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Attend meetings visit school sites and perform other related duties as assigned.

QualificationsMinimum and Preferred Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources Business Administration or a related field (Masters preferred).
- Credential Requirements:
- Valid California credential authorizing services as an administrator in grades K-12. (required).
- Experience and Competencies (preferred):
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience including management roles.
- In-depth knowledge of labor lawscredentials HR best practices and compliance standards.
- Experience in a charter school educational setting.
- Experience working in charter school networks or multi-site educational organizations
Compensation and Benefits:
- This is an exempt position with a salary range of $130000-$172800.
- The Accelerated Schools (TAS) accepts up to 35 years of prior years of experience where the employee worked full-time as a certificated employee for a minimum of 75% of the school year.
