JOB TITLE: CAFE ASSOCIATE

CALENDAR: 1811H PART TIME 1911FT FULL TIME (9 MONTHS)

SALARY: GRADE 106 (SUPPORT HOURLY)

HOURS PER DAY: 4

Job Goal:

To assist in the preparation serving and clean-up of food in a quantity food service operation using safe and efficient food handling practices; and to provide accurate and efficient point-of-sale operations while adhering to excellence in customer service

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to read and write English as it pertains to job functions
• Current Food Handlers Certificate or acquire within 30 days of hire
• Experience in food preparation & handling desired
• Satisfactory criminal background check
• Must display the ability to work with figures and to make arithmetic calculations
• Ability to keep accurate records and operate a computerized cash register/computer
• The ability to operate institutional equipment is desired
• Must display the ability to communicate effectively with staff students parents and the community regarding the school food and nutrition programs
• Vision and hearing are adequate to exercise job responsibilities in a safe manner
• Adherence to all policies rules and regulations

Core Job Functions:

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of HACCP food safety guidelines and procedures
• Collect and account for prepayment and real-time transactions of student meals
• Maintain an appropriate change fund for registers
• Accurately perform cashier duties and end-of-day procedures as requested
• Prepare stock and maintain the serving line area and/or assist in food preparation and clean up
• Accurately identify a reimbursable meal on the serving line and provide monitoring and guidance to customers to be sure selections meet federal guidelines
• Safely operate standard and specialized kitchen equipment including convection/combi ovens microwave ovens dishwashers air fryer ovens food warmers coolers and freezers
• Set up serving line with appropriate equipment adhering to safety measures
• Wash dishes and equipment according to Maricopa County Health Department guidelines
• Clean work areas and dispose of garbage daily
• Assist the manager in monitoring and verifying HACCP procedures including temperature sanitizing and storage logs
• Ensure product quality by visual inspection and adherence to cooking/serving guidelines
• Respond to all internal and external customers as it relates to the position in a prompt efficient friendly and patient manner
• Perform other duties relating to the general job function as assigned by the supervisor

• Speaking hearing and seeing (with or without correction).
• Maintaining focus for extended periods.

Lifting & Force:The job involves lifting and moving objects with the following frequency:

• Occasionally:up to 50 pounds of force.
• Frequently:up to 30 pounds of force.
• Constantly:up to 30 pounds of force.

Working Environment:You may encounter some of the following conditions:

• Travel odors dust and poor ventilation.
• Limited workspace loud noises and bloodborne pathogens.
