CLS is currently searching for a service-minded mission driven individual to fulfill the following position:

Community Initiatives Coordinator (Sanford Daytona or Kissimmee)

OVERVIEW

The Community Initiatives Coordinator works under the general supervision of the Senior Manager of Community Initiatives to connect the organization to the surrounding communities through education engagement and this role the coordinator will assist with planning and overseeing the implementation of outreach strategies. Maintaining communication with both external and internal stakeholders is key to success in this position. This position requires a high degree of positive public communication including developing strategies to engage the local community meeting the community members where they are and identifying the needs of the community. A major focus of an individual in this position is increasing public awareness of Community Legal Services (CLS) services and programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and initiate outreach necessary to promote CLS programs and services throughout our 12-county service area.
  2. Regularly promote CLS at community events and meetings.
  3. Engage and educate individuals community partners and other organizations/potential clients about CLS services and how to request assistance.
  4. Assist in developing materials and presentations to share with community organizations regarding CLS programs and services.
  5. Assist with updating the CLS Resource Guide for our 12-county service area
  6. Create and maintain outreach To Go Boxes with supplies for CLS staff.
  7. Create and maintain information regarding events materials presentations flyers etc. utilized for any outreach event/activity that CLS participates in.
  8. Evaluate success of outreach events and community initiatives to assist with developing and implementing strategies to expand our reach while meeting the needs of the community.
  9. Assist with completing reports for grantors as requested.
  10. Coordinate outreach efforts with CLS staff to meet grant deliverables and expand our reach.
  11. Clerical and administrative duties (calendaring registration of events inventory of outreach supplies etc.)
  12. Attend local events and engage with community members to provide information on CLS services and how to access.
  13. Attend regular county/region specific meetings sharing information on CLS programs and gathering resources for sharing. (CoC Social Service Roundtables etc.)
  14. Schedule presentations as the opportunity arises or as requested.
  15. Evaluate success of outreach events and community initiatives to assist with developing and implementing strategies to expand our reach while meeting the needs of the community.
  16. Maintain information regarding events materials presentations flyers etc. utilized for any outreach event/activity that CLS participates in.
  17. Work with other CLS units to promote and support the mission including providing support during legal education events in person etc.
  18. May occasionally require work during evenings and weekends based on organizational needs.
  19. Requires frequent travel throughout CLSs service area to support operational and programmatic needs.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Commitment

2. Background and Experience

  1. Two or more years of experience working with a community-based organization working with low-income and/or vulnerable clients and communities.
  2. Ability to engage a diverse constituency effectively and consistently.
  3. Strong communication skills both verbal and written including public speaking one-on-one interactions and active listening.
  4. Have a passion for helping others; enthusiasm creativity good judgement initiative and willingness to work collaboratively.
  1. Valid drivers license required to travel through our 12 county service area.

3. Physical Requirements

a. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

b. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

STARTING SALARY: $55000 more with experience.
