The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (GW MFA) are seeking a fulltime Board Certified Cornea Ophthalmologist to join a respected academic ophthalmology program in the heart of Washington DC. This position offers a rare blend of highquality clinical practice advanced corneal surgery and handson resident and fellow education. Candidates will have the opportunity to manage complex corneal disease perform cuttingedge procedures and contribute to training the next generation of ophthalmologists within a collaborative wellsupported environment.

Quick Facts

  • Employment Type: Full-time (preferred); part-time and per diem schedules may be considered
  • Schedule/Hours: 8 am-5 pm
  • Call: Shared
  • Patient Volume: 30-40 patients daily (excluding surgery and admin time)
  • Location: Washington DC
  • Practice Setting: George Washington Hospital and GW Medical Faculty Associates
  • Support Team: Administrative Assistant Ophthalmic Technician
  • EMR: Epic
  • Academic Teaching Opportunity: Educate and mentor residents and students

Responsibilities

  • Provide cornea procedures like DMEK DSAEK PK refractive surgery (LASIK/PRK) collagen cross-linking and cataract surgeries to a diverse patient population
  • Collaborate with physicians APPs and support staff with administrative assistance and a technician
  • Document care using Epic

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Competitive compensation in the $300K-$400K range

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Ophthalmology
  • Fellowship trained in Cornea
  • Required: 5 years of experience (following completion of training)
  • Experience in academic settings preferred
  • Eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia
  • This position is eligible for H1-B Visa sponsorship
