Job Summary
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivers a rigorous yet age-appropriate foundational phonics-based reading and language arts
- Teach mathematics emphasizing number sense and logical thinking
- Introduce history and science through storytelling observation and hands-on exploration
- Expose students to great literature poetry music and art that cultivate imagination and virtue
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students including enrichment and intervention strategies
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor progress provide feedback and guide instruction
- Establish a safe structured and engaging classroom that fosters student exploration and respect
- Collaborate with colleagues support staff and families to support whole-child development
- Participate in professional learning communities and contribute to a culture of growth and innovation
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience with differentiated instruction to serve all students in a classroom
- Effective skills in creating positive relationships with students and their families
- Strong interpersonal collaborative and organizational skills
- Willingness and ability to act as an outstanding personal witness to the Catholic faith
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors degree
- Valid South Dakota Teaching certificate or ability to obtain
- Relevant teacher experience and content knowledge
- Knowledge of childhood development and best practices in elementary instruction.
- Strong classroom management organizational and communication skills
