Where Youll Be Working
The New England North West Acute Care Team (NENW ACT) provides intake and acute mental health care to communities across the New England North West region. Based in Tamworth youll join a dynamic multidisciplinary team committed to delivering responsive high-quality care to adults experiencing acute mental health needs.

About the Role
As a Mental Health Clinician you will play a key role in delivering timely intake acute intervention and outreach support. Working alongside experienced clinicians peer workers and medical staff youll contribute to a service model that blends face-to-face and telehealth care to meet the diverse needs of our communities.

About You
You are an experienced clinician with advanced clinical competence and strong professional integrity. You bring expert assessment skills including the ability to conduct thorough mental state examinations risk assessments and complex clinical formulations that inform evidence-based interventions.
You are confident managing high-risk or ambiguous situations and apply relevant legislation - including the Mental Health Act - alongside ethical frameworks and clinical governance requirements.
You will also demonstrate:
Advanced clinical reasoning and sound decision-making skills
The ability to provide clinical supervision and mentor less experienced staff
Leadership capability in case reviews and fostering a positive team culture
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Timely accurate and thorough documentation practices
Emotional intelligence resilience and a commitment to reflective practice
Support & Professional Development
You will be supported by your Line Manager and Professional Leads with access to regular structured clinical supervision ongoing education and professional development opportunities.
NENW Mental Health Services actively encourages continued professional development and supports staff in maintaining and expanding their CPD through internal in-service programs and learning opportunities.
Requirements
Applicants must hold qualifications in one of the following disciplines:
Occupational Therapy
Psychology or Clinical Psychology
Social Work
Nursing
Counselling (Bachelor of Health Science - Mental Health Djirruwang Program)
This qualification must provide eligibility for membership with the relevant professional association and/or provisional or general registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
You must also:
Hold a current drivers licence valid in NSW and be willing to travel for work purposes including long distances when required
