Job Summary

We are searching for a Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d) Data Scientist/Bioinformatics/Computational Biology at the Institute for Cardiogenetics University of Lübeck.

The University Medical Center Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH) combines international research with interdisciplinary patient care. The UKSH is the only tertiary care provider and the largest employer in Schleswig-Holstein. The position is based at the Institute of Cardiogenetics at the UKSH. The institute brings together experts in life science bioinformatics and cardiovascular medicine to advance the understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying heart disease and to translate these insights into preclinical approaches. The work will be carried out within the framework of the Precision Medicine in Chronic Inflammation (PMI) and in close collaboration with the Clinic of Dermatology at the USKH Campus Lübeck.

We are searching for a highly motivated Data Scientist / Bioinformatician / Computational Biologist (f/m/d) to join our dynamic interdisciplinary team. You will contribute to ambitious collaborative projects focused primarily on inflammatory disease research.

What do we offer:

  • Salary payment in accordance to remuneration group E13 TV-L based on a fixed-term contract for 3 years.
  • Full-time employment currently 38.5 hours/ week. Part-time employment may be compatible within the framework of certain working time models.

Your responsibilities:

  • Apply methods from molecular epidemiology to WGS and scRNA Seq data
  • In silico annotations of genomics findings
  • Perform statistical data analysis data integration and visualization and contribute to the publication of research findings and research grant applications
  • Provide support to interdisciplinary team members
  • Close involvement in the PMI Project Sex Diversity in CID

Your profile:

  • A strong background in bioinformatics computational biology data sciences or a related field with knowledge of biology and aPhD (or a minimum of 3 yrs experience in the field) is required
  • Statistical and bioinformatic skills in particular analysis of human in vitro and in vivo omics datasets combined with hands-on experience in experimental validation of genetic and molecular findings
  • Experience in applying statistical methods from genetic epidemiology
  • Expertise in Linux/Unix environment HPC clusters proficiency in R Python and practical knowledge of reproducible workflow systems (e.g. Nextflow Snakemake) and version control tools is appreciated
  • Strong communication skills with a passion for interdisciplinary teamwork as well as fluency in English; knowledge of German is an advantage
