Accountability
Reports to the University Dining Assistant Manager for Employment and the Student Employment Program Manager.
Responsibilities
The Payroll Coordinator is responsible for verifying the student payroll for all University Dining student employees and is responsible for initiating and maintaining all payroll and personnel records for those student employees. This position requires a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy. The University Dining Payroll Coordinator works directly with full-time and student staff supervisors on payroll/human resource matters.
Specific Duties
Meet with all newly hired employees to complete and process personnel payroll paperwork.
Assist with orientation of new student staff to their work location. Including a tour introductions to Student Leadership Team in work unit.
Hire all student employees into Workday for academic year and summer terms.
Check bi-weekly student payroll exceptions and approvals as well as manage approvals in PeopleSoft. Contact student managers/full-time supervisor if any hours are inconsistent with University Centers policies.
Maintain accuracy of the points system and notify student employees when they receive points.
Verify all PeopleSoft timesheets are approved by each pay period.
Compile and process longevity and promotion pay increases.
Maintain personnel and computer files for current and past employees in workbooks.
Process and distribute probation correspondence for employees.
Work with Excel spreadsheet to update student employee status wages etc.
Train student managers and full-time supervisors on payroll procedures.
Assemble list of returning student employees for verification of GPA requirement as part of the pre-employment process at the beginning of each semester.
Work with campus Human Resources to assign online trainings to new hires.
Attend Supervisory Staff Orientation and act as Secretary for all Supervisory Staff meetings.
Attend mandatory staff meetings and pre-semester trainings (August and January) with Student Supervisory Staff.
Become familiar with University Dining student employment program and represent the department and/or present at STAR Registration Orientation Days Viewpoint Days Admitted Student Days etc.
Be accountable and abide to the policies outlined in the University Dining Student Employment Handbook.
Other duties as assigned by Management Team.
Qualifications
Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
All applicants must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in at least 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher).
Applicants must pass a criminal background check (only criminal activity directly pertaining to the position description will be evaluated.)
Successful applicants must pass all UWSP mandatory trainings along with department specific (food handling) trainings as part of their employment onboarding.
Upon the completion of the eight-week probationary period the staff supervisor will conduct a performance evaluation with results impacting the students future employment status.
