As part of our team of dedicated educators youll play a pivotal role in crafting unforgettable experiences for children attending our Summer Zoo Camp.
Imagine the excitement as campers explore the wonders of the zoo immersing themselves in close encounters with ambassador animals engaging in spirited camp games unleashing their creativity through arts and crafts and delving into captivating educational themes. Each day is a new adventure filled with discovery and laughter against the backdrop of our vibrant natural world.
Now imagine yourself as aSummerCamp Aide (Season/Full-Time) entrusted with the task of supporting our dynamic education team throughout the camp. Your role is multifaceted encompassing the seamless management of day-to-day operations. From administratively managing class rosters to ensuring smooth lunchtime routines from maintaining meticulous records your contribution ensures that every aspect of the camp runs like clockwork.
You have prepared for this role with a year of college education or relevant experience in an assistant or similar have a knack for creating engaging activities that foster a deep appreciation for nature and animals among campers. Your professionalism in interacting positively with diverse personalities and age groups cultivates inclusivity and respect. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools is essential for collaborative efforts. With at least one year of college education your experience in supervising individuals of all ages emphasizes a nurturing environment conducive to learning and growth supervising individuals of all ages ensuring a nurturing and supportive environment.

What you bring...
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Six (6) monthsof experience supervising all ages.
  • One (1) year of college education or relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to commit to staff training weekJune 1 2026- June 5 2026.
  • Ability to commit for the duration of camp datesJune 8 2026 July 31 2026.
  • Stronginterpersonal skills with the ability to connectwith diverse audiences.
  • Composurein fast-paced or high-volume environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suiteand related tools for communication and data entry.
  • Pre-Employment Requirements: Candidates selected for this position must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings prior to their start date. Compliance with these requirements is mandatory to ensure the safety of staff animals and visitors. These include:
    • Level II Criminal Background Check
    • 5 panel drug screen
A plus
  • First Aid & CPR certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to consistently remain on your feet for 6-8 hours on shift.
  • Ability to walk bend kneel crouch crawl climb and reach.
  • Visual acuity for reading writing and observingsurroundings and auditory acuity for communication.
  • Ability to lift carry and move objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to work with a variety of animals including invertebrates reptiles and small companion mammals.
  • Ability to safely operate a motorized cart.
WORK CONDITIONS
  • Exposure to various weather conditions including extreme heat sunlight cold rain and wind.
  • Potential exposure to allergens (dust animal dander pollen etc.) bloodborne pathogens zoonotic diseases and injuries from animals.
  • Irregular work hours including evenings weekends and holidays are sometimes required.
  • Exposure to hazards such wildlife waste equipment loud noises chemicals and heights.
