The Senior Estimator will review project plans and specifications perform site visits and use evaluating methods to establish the construction cost for some of the industrys most challenging projects. Using detailed construction analysis and historical costs the estimator will prepare comprehensive cost estimates and supporting data (schedules material and subcontract price comparison rate build-up etc.) for direct and indirect costs to accurately determine the cost of construction.Job Description
Senior Estimator Responsibilities:
Prepare Order of Magnitude (OOM) Budgets based on Reference/Indicative Documents.
Set-up Cost Work Break-Down Structures (WBS) for complex heavy civil/transportation projects.
Perform Quantity Take-offs and assemble Bill of Quantities (BoQs) documents.
Develop direct cost estimates based on project specifications drawings and addenda.
Prepare general accounts/indirect cost estimates.
Develop cost unit rates from basic principles by making use of labour equipment and material resources.
Generate Labour unit rates in compliance with the labour wage requirements of project locations.
Prepare and update complete construction budgets as projects design progresses.
Support Chief Estimator with the preparation of budget review presentations for management.
Coordinate and lead Estimating Working Group meetings with CJV partners.
Coordinate and lead quantities and costs reconciliation meetings with CJV partners.
Generate alternate price for value engineering scope elements for the projects.
Provide support with the elaboration of budgets cash flows.
Participate in design workshops during the projects design development in order to provide cost/construction input.
Review estimating/design deliverables from consultants and incorporate into estimates.
Support procurement team and participate in subcontractors and suppliers meetings. Prepare procurement packages for the procurement team c/w specifications BoQs drawings and schedule.
Analyze subcontractors/vendors quotes and prepare comparison sheets. Lead estimate de-plugging meetings with CJV partners.
Other duties as required.
Required Skills and Competencies
Demonstrated related experience; large project ($300M ) experience is a plus.
A Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Construction Management or a related field
Working knowledge of estimating software such as Candy HeavyBid Bid2Win Chief Estimator etc.
Use of CAD digital take off programs and a strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office an advantage.
Working knowledge of Quantity Take-Off softwares.
Experience in creating preliminary construction schedules.
Experience in working in multi joint venture environment.
Comfortable working in a disciplined and challenging environment.
Excellent technical organizational and planning skills.
Strong interpersonal relationship building communication and negotiation skills are A solid attention to detail and ability to be a problem solver.
The ability to work independently or as a member of team.
General knowledge of estimating techniques cost control and material pricing required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Working knowledge of contract language and legal requirements of contracts.

RBQ Guarantor Responsibilities:
Serve as the designated guarantor for our RBQ license application under subclasses 1.5 and 1.6.
Ensure compliance with Quebecs Building Act and RBQ regulations.
Liaise with RBQ and other Quebec authorities during the licensing and project phases.
Assist in preparing and submitting documentation for license application.
Support project management site supervision and execution planning.
Required Skills and Competencies
Experience/Qualifications:
Senior Estimator
Minimum 10 years experience in a project management or senior estimator role on large infrastructure projects is preferred.
Post-Secondary diploma or degree related to Construction Management Quantity Surveying Estimating Engineering or related education.
Experience in creating a complete bid price using Estimating software.
Experience in creating preliminary construction schedules.
Experience in working in multi joint venture environment.
Experience in working on bids with values in excess of $100M.
Experience utilizing computerized estimating systems.
Experience as a project or construction manager on large infrastructure projects a definite asset.
RBQ Guarantor
Valid RBQ license or eligibility to act as a guarantor for subclasses 1.5 and 1.6.
Eligible to act as a guarantor under RBQ regulations (must have passed the required exams or hold recognized qualifications.
Proven experience in civil construction projects particularly bridge and infrastructure works.
Strong knowledge of Quebec construction codes safety regulations and project execution standards.
Fluent in French (mandatory for regulatory and professional communications).
Excellent leadership communication and organizational skills.
This role offers an annual base salary in the anticipated range of $125000.00 $150000.00 CAD with compensation determined based on experience qualifications and internal equity.
