Job Summary

A vibrant and well-respected secondary school in Portsmouth is seeking a passionate innovative and enthusiastic Music Teacher to join their thriving Creative Arts department. This is a full-time permanent position starting ASAP suitable for experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) eager to inspire students through music education.

About the Role

As a Music Teacher you will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 and potentially KS5 developing students performance composition and theoretical understanding. You will plan lessons that foster creativity confidence and musical skills while accommodating a range of abilities and interests.

The role also involves preparing students for GCSE and A-Level Music examinations leading school ensembles supporting performances and concerts and encouraging participation in extracurricular music activities such as choirs bands and competitions.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality Music lessons across KS3/4 (KS5 optional)
Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Music examinations
Plan implement and evaluate engaging schemes of work that develop musical skills
Lead and support school ensembles concerts and performances
Assess monitor and track student progress
Contribute to departmental development and enrichment programmes
Maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment that encourages creativity

Experience and Qualifications

Degree in Music Music Education or a related discipline
QTS or PGCE
Experience teaching Music in secondary education (ECTs welcome)
Strong classroom management organisational and leadership skills
Passion for fostering student creativity and musical development

Salary

MPS/UPS (dependent on experience).
