Job Summary
A high performing and academically strong secondary school in Dorchester is seeking an ambitious Second in Charge of Design & Technology to join its department from April 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced DT teacher looking to step into a leadership role within a structured and high-expectations environment.

The Role
Teaching Design & Technology across KS3 and KS4 with KS5 depending on experience
Supporting the Head of Department with curriculum development and strategic planning
Driving high standards in coursework NEA and examination outcomes
Supporting staff development mentoring colleagues and modelling excellent practice
Monitoring pupil progress and implementing attainment strategies
Ensuring workshop safety compliance and effective resource management
Assisting with departmental quality assurance and moderation processes
Contributing to whole-school leadership initiatives where appropriate
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong experience teaching DT at secondary level
Leadership potential or prior middle leadership experience
A strong track record of raising standards and improving outcomes
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Confidence supporting curriculum planning and departmental strategy
Strong understanding of workshop health & safety compliance
