Job Summary
The Summer Support Municipal Law Enforcement Officer will patrol the Ajax Waterfront and recreational parks and enforce the Towns By-laws during weekends from April to September.Job Duties Include
Job Duties
Enforce the Town of Ajax By-laws including the Traffic and Parks By-law during patrols of the Ajax Waterfront and recreational parks with a focus on parking enforcement.
Educate the public regarding Town By-laws communicate with patrons in contravention and/or pursue enforcement to gain compliance.
Prepare Administrative Monetary Penalties pursuant to the Municipal Act.
Prepare court prosecutions for the Crown/Prosecutor in the form of crown briefs documentary evidence and sworn verbal testimony if necessary.
Respond to customer inquiries with focus on the provision of excellent customer service.
Review and approve the applications of residential parking passes
Liaise with other departments and Police.
Qualifications/skills
Minimum completion of first year of a 2-year college diploma in Protection Security and Investigations or equivalent.
Must be physically able to wear a ballistic protective vest for extended periods and physically capable of carrying and utilizing a bite stick.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) and able to keep a detailed daily log.
Computer literate (MS Excel Word Outlook) and possess the ability to utilize several software applications.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
Minimum valid Class G drivers license with a clear drivers abstract.
Ability to provide a criminal record check that is satisfactory to the Town.
Contract Term
This position will work 24 hours per week from April 27 2026 to September 13 2026.
Shifts include Friday afternoon and evening Saturday Sunday and all Statutory and Civic Holidays during the employment term.
What is Offered to Staff
Compensation: $30.80/hour
