Position: Data Center Commissioning Technician (Marion IA)

Job Overview:
The Data Center Commissioning Technician is a key member of the commissioning team serving as a hands-on technical resource supporting client projects. This role assists in verifying testing and documenting mission-critical systems within data center environments. The technician collaborates with multi-disciplinary engineers technicians contractors and client teams to ensure systems are installed operational and performing according to design specifications.

This is a contract position and is not eligible for C2C or W2 referral candidates.

What you will be doing as a Data Center Commissioning Technician
Commissioning & Testing
Assist in executing commissioning activities to ensure safe reliable and efficient operation of data center systems.
Perform I/O checkout and point-to-point verification to validate device operation and signal integrity.
Support functional testing including start/stop operations sequence verification alarms interlocks and fail-safe functionality.
Conduct or verify calibration checks for instrumentation such as pressure temperature flow and level.
Perform analog gauge comparisons against digital readings and expected ranges.
Support flow tests and performance verification activities; document results.
Technical Support & Documentation
Review drawings equipment submittals and test scripts to understand operational intent and acceptance criteria.
Accurately document testing results discrepancies observations and corrective actions using commissioning forms or project tools.
Identify issues deficiencies or conflicts and escalate appropriately; assist with troubleshooting and retesting after corrections.
Collaboration & Field Execution
Work closely with commissioning leads project managers engineers contractors and client teams.
Execute assigned onsite tasks under direction of project leadership.
Travel to client locations and perform physical fieldwork related to testing and validation of mission-critical systems.
Learn and understand data center operational workflows and system interactions across mechanical electrical and control disciplines.

Experience in industrial maintenance assembly line service controls technician roles or controls/automation engineering preferred.
Comfortable using testing equipment such as multimeters and basic instrumentation tools.
Strong attention to detail with commitment to accurate documentation and organized reporting.
Ability to adapt to evolving schedules test plans and site priorities while maintaining quality and safety standards.
Demonstrated initiative in learning new technologies tools and system methodologies.
Effective communicator who works well with cross-functional technical teams.
Strong self-management skills including planning prioritization and progress evaluation.

Hands-on technical work performed in active data center and construction environments.
Requires travel to client sites.
Must be able to safely perform physical tasks associated with field testing and commissioning activities.
