Job Summary

The Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science (IDMxS) officially launched on 1 December 2022 is a Research Centre of Excellence (RCE) supported by a total investment of around S$160 million over 10 year. IDMxS overarching approach is to go beyond the neat simplicity of intermolecular interactions in dilute media and embrace the inherent complexity of biological interactions and dense heterogeneity of their environments.

For more details please view and are looking for a highly motivated and creative Postdoc Research Fellow to join our team and lead an exciting project investigating the functional interactions between biomolecular condensates and membrane-bound organelles in different cellular models. This project aims to bridge the gap between membrane-less and membrane-bound compartments deciphering how phase separation influences organelle dynamics signaling and function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research Leadership: Spearhead an independent project decoding the functional crosstalk between condensates and membrane-bound organelles.

  • Tool Engineering: Design and validate novel molecular probes or synthetic condensates leveraging genetic engineering or generative protein design.

  • Quantitative Imaging: Apply advanced microscopy and image analysis pipelines to measure biophysical dynamics in living cells.

  • Output & Mentorship: Drive the publication of high-impact findings and assist in the supervision of junior lab members.

Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate who is eager to work at the intersection of biophysics and cell biology.

  • PhD in Cell Biology Biophysics Bioengineering Biochemistry or a related field

  • Core Expertise: Strong background in the biophysics of biomolecular condensates (phase separation) and fundamental cell biology.

  • Genetic Engineering: Advanced cloning techniques CRISPR/Cas9 editing or optogenetic tool development.

  • Quantitative Imaging: Live-cell confocal and/or super-resolution microscopy or automated image analysis pipelines.

  • Computational Protein Design: Experience with generative models (e.g. AlphaFold RFdiffusion ProteinMPNN) for designing novel condensate drivers or sensors.

  • Collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment.

  • Access to state-of-the-art imaging and biophysical instrumentation.
