POSITION SUMMARY
Barton Malow is seeking a Project Engineer (Industrial Services) to join our team in Valparaiso IN. This entry-level role supports Barton Malows industrial services by providing technical assistance managing project documentation and contributing to field execution. The position offers hands-on learning collaboration with field teams and exposure to core construction practices across automotive renewable energy and industrial projects. Travel to project sites is expected.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Field Engineering
- Observe and walk project sites to capture safety observations progress photos and identify potential issues.
- Assist the superintendent with daily execution of self-perform work.
- Gain exposure to field crews and functional managers to understand construction sequencing material placement and field workflows.
- Support QA/QC activities quantity take-offs and site logistics planning using digital platforms.
- Document Control & Project Support
- Prepare track and distribute RFIs submittals and other project correspondence.
- Record daily quantities and facilitate weekly productivity reviews.
- Manage tracking logs for purchased materials and rented equipment.
- Attend and document project meetings including recording minutes and action items.
- Maintain drawings specifications and project closeout documentation.
- Facilitate installation work packages and coordinate with field teams on execution plans.
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce Barton Malow corporate safety policies and site-specific safety requirements.
- Support proactive identification and mitigation of potential safety risks in the field.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE EDUCATION EXPERIENCE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bachelors degree in construction management civil engineering or a related field.
- Strong communication organizational and client service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction software platforms.
- Ability to interpret drawings specifications and technical documents.
- Willingness to travel and work in a dynamic field-based environment.
- Proactive attitude with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
