The Services Technician is responsible for the effective implementation of day-to-day operations at NEXTDCs facilities across our Sydney facilities. This includes supporting Services Managers with operational and maintenance activities to ensure critical infrastructure is maintained using best practices upholding the Uptime Operational Sustainability Gold standard and delivering services to the highest standards in line with NEXTDCs brand promise. Additionally you will actively contribute to the training and development of junior facility staff fostering their growth and enhancing their expertise.
Your key responsibilities will cover:
- Operate monitor and maintain critical infrastructure supporting NEXTDC facilities and uptime commitments.
- Manage contractors to ensure services meet best-practice standards and UTI Operational Sustainability Gold guidelines.
- Participate in the on-call roster to support data centre operations and customer requirements.
- Identify troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues in a timely manner escalating incidents in line with established procedures.
- Perform routine testing tuning and maintenance of plant and equipment to ensure reliability and peak efficiency.
- Maintain accurate site documentation (SWIs EOPs policies as-builts) and contribute to audits and certification activities.
- Collaborate with Services Managers Senior Data Centre Technicians Customer Success contractors and stakeholders to deliver safe compliant and high-quality service aligned with WHS legislation Facility Rules and company standards.
- Support risk management processes SME training (including EOP drills) staff development and customer equipment handling as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through accurate reporting and recommendations.
Qualifications :
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Telecommunications or Mechanical trade (HVAC/Air conditioning) or similar
- Good knowledge of all aspects of data centres including electrical and mechanical configurations rack management design and installation
- 3 years experience in data centre facilities or similar critical infrastructure
- Excellent written and verbal communication and effective interpersonal skills
- Exceptional planning organising and analytical skills
- Experience with building management and monitoring systems
- Knowledge of various codes and regulations applicable
- Good knowledge of cabling & cable management and quality inspection / assurance
