The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Technician in our Plate Mill maintenance team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

In this hands-on position you will ensure that equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for safety quality and reliability. You will apply your mechanical fitting skills and experience to complete both complex and routine maintenance tasks with a focus on improving our equipment performance and reliability by understanding plant and equipment condition and then implementing corrective actions to restore as required.

What Will You Do

You will apply your technical expertise to ensure that all mechanical equipment is maintained as well as assisting with other Plate Mill department tasks. You will:

isolate equipment and perform preventative and corrective maintenance
inspect production and quality critical equipment and fault find
resolve issues and fix any non-conformances
seek ways to continuously improve our maintenance practices and strategies
provide supply stock and purchase requisitions schedules work orders and parts listing via the use of the computerised maintenance management system (SAP)

More About You

You will be motivated and have a strong technical background with the ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team environment. You will also have:

fitting/machining trade qualification
experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment conducting a maintenance function
experience working both independently and as part of a manufacturing team
strong attention to detail with the ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
a commitment to your own safety and wellbeing and care for others
