Blank Childrens Hospital
Blank Childrens Hospital a service of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines is completelydedicated to meeting the unique health care needs of children. Blank Childrens is a 108-bed environment that embraces and encourages families to be a part of their childs healing and recovery. Everything from equipment to decor is designed specifically for children.
- The Blank Adolescent Medicine Clinic provides comprehensive developmentally appropriate care for adolescents and young adults offering both primary care and subspecialty consultation services. The clinic is staffed by two physicians one nurse practitioner and one registered dietitian. Currently the most common referrals to the clinic are for mental health young womens/reproductive health and eating disorders/obesity concerns.
Responsibilities
- Clinical care: Primarily outpatient care with opportunities for inpatient consultation depending on the clinical interests of the candidate.
- Participate in the education of Blank Childrens Hospital pediatric residents and medical students from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and Des Moines University.
Opportunities
- All teaching faculty receive a clinical appointment through the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.
- Scholarly productivity is not a job requirement though support for clinicians who desire to pursue quality improvement or research projects is readily available.
- Wide latitude exists to shape your clinical case load based on your interests and career goals.
- Work collaboratively across specialties with experts in psychiatry psychology developmental pediatrics endocrinology gastroenterology hematology/oncology infectious diseases neurology orthopedics surgery palliative care pulmonology and rheumatology.
- Participate in key hospital or ACGME leadership positions.
Qualifications
- MD or DO
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Adolescent Medicine
- Hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa
- Eligible to work in the United States
