The Legal Department seeks a Senior Attorney to support the firms Structured Finance and Mortgage businesses preferably with strong lending experience. These are multi-strategy businesses that acquire originate finance trade/make markets in advise on and engage in various financing and securities transactions involving commercial and residential mortgage loans corporate loans (CLOs) secured and unsecured consumer and Fintech loans transportation loans and leases and other esoteric assets. The businesses may act as an advisor financier and/or principal counterparty to clients.


Principal Responsibilities:

  • Advise the business teams on all aspects of structured finance transactions with a primary focus on balance sheet and syndicated financings.
  • Identify and address legal policy regulatory commercial and reputational issues/risks.
  • Manage all aspects of external counsel relationships and engagement.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on regulatory and litigation matters relating to structured finance and mortgage matters.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders including legal conflicts compliance controller and audit teams to ensure consistency of coverage and adherence to firm policies procedures and best practices.
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of firm policies procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • 6 years of post-JD transaction-based legal experience at a reputable law firm investment bank or other financial institution.
  • Strong substantive knowledge and significant experience in structured finance and capital marketsincluding financing asset acquisition and securitization transactions preferably with strong lending experience.
  • Familiarity with CFPB state and federal regulators lending bankruptcy and with various fixed income and derivative products.
  • Possess excellent time management/organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple transactions with competing deadlines.
  • Motivation to expand skill set and excel in a fast paced and rapidly changing business environment with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills.
  • Self-starter with strong self-confidence good judgement sound decision making and problem-solving skills.
  • Adept at developing interpersonal relationships.
