The Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship (ARCCS) at UNSW Sydney is a world-first cancer survivorship research centre established through a landmark $40 million partnership with Cancer Council NSW. ARCCS is dedicated to understanding and improving long-term outcomes and quality of life for people living with and beyond cancer tackling the physical emotional social and financial challenges survivors may face. The Centre brings together researchers clinicians survivors carers and communities to co-design evidence-based solutions that inform practice policy and health systems ensuring tailored person-centred care that helps people not just survive but thrive. ARCCS also prioritises addressing inequities in care and strengthening survivorship support across Australia and globally.

Position Summary

The Senior Research Fellow/Associate Professor (Level C/D) will provide research leadership within the Australian Research Centre for Cancer Survivorship (ARCCS) a world-first centre at UNSW dedicated to improving outcomes and quality of life for people living with and beyond cancer.

The appointee will develop an independent high-impact research program aligned to ARCCSs five key areas: survivorship epidemiology precision survivorship behaviour and health multimorbidity and complex care and person-centred care. The role involves securing competitive research funding mentoring emerging researchers and HDR candidates building national and international collaborations and strengthening the Centres growing research reputation.

Reporting to the Centre Director this research-intensive position has no direct reports and offers an exciting opportunity for emerging and established leaders to shape the future of cancer survivorship research.

Skills & Experience

At Level C

  • A PhD in a related discipline and/or relevant work experience.
  • Experience and track record in cancer survivorship research
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clinical partners interdisciplinary partners and people with lived experience of cancer.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated track record in research with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence as well as the capacity for research leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills.

At Level D (as well as above)

  • Significant track record in research leadership with outcomes of high quality and high international impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve research excellence and deliver research leadership.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence and outstanding contribution to research and scholarship.
  • Demonstrated leadership in building engagement and partnerships with the profession and industry.
