A successful and forward-thinking academy in Northampton is seeking an experienced and proactive Premises Manager to lead the maintenance safety and operational management of the school site. This is a pivotal role in ensuring that pupils staff and visitors benefit from a safe secure and well-maintained learning environment.
About the Role
The Premises Manager will take responsibility for the day-to-day management of buildings grounds and site services across the academy in Northampton. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and Trust representatives (where applicable) the postholder will oversee maintenance schedules contractor management statutory compliance and health & safety.
You will lead and develop the premises team ensuring high standards of presentation safety and operational efficiency in line with academy and Trust expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the operation maintenance and ongoing development of academy buildings and grounds.
Lead and supervise premises staff allocating duties and monitoring performance.
Oversee planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.
Manage external contractors and ensure full compliance with statutory and safeguarding requirements.
Take responsibility for health & safety systems risk assessments fire safety and site security.
Support academy events lettings and extended school activities.
Monitor site budgets and ensure effective procurement and value for money.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience in estates facilities or site management ideally within education public sector or a multi-site environment.
Strong working knowledge of health & safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements (e.g. fire safety asbestos water hygiene).
Proven ability to manage contractors and prioritise competing workloads effectively.
Strong leadership communication and organisational skills.
Practical understanding of building maintenance site operations and compliance systems.
Flexible and responsive approach including the ability to manage emergencies.
Legal right to work in the UK.
