Job Summary
A high performing and ambitious secondary school in Lincoln is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Head of Design & Technology to lead its successful DT department from April 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to drive innovation and practical excellence within a well-resourced and academically strong environment.
Design & Technology is a valued subject within the school with strong engagement at KS3 and KS4 and opportunities at KS5. The department delivers a broad curriculum including Product Design Resistant Materials and Food Technology.
The Role
Leading and managing the Design & Technology department across KS3 KS4 and KS5
Driving high standards of teaching learning and assessment
Developing an ambitious and industry-relevant DT curriculum
Overseeing workshop safety machinery compliance and risk assessments
Line managing and mentoring DT staff
Monitoring pupil progress and implementing attainment strategies
Managing departmental budgets and resource allocation
Contributing to whole-school leadership and curriculum development
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
A degree in Design & Technology or a related subject
Proven experience teaching DT at secondary level
Previous leadership experience within a DT department
A strong track record of raising standards and improving outcomes
Excellent organisational and leadership skills
Strong knowledge of workshop safety and compliance

Salary
