Job Description:

As such Direct Medics are working in partnership with a client based in the Craigavon and Newry areas to find an experienced and dedicated Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist. This locum post is required on a temporary basis for Core and Out of Hours work.

Working both as part of a team and lone worker (during out of hours) in the Haematology lab and/or Blood Transfusion Lab the candidate must be able to travel to both sites based in Craigavon and Newry. Initial core hours for training moving to 24/7 shift rotation including nights and weekends.

Requirements:

HCPC Registration: Current and valid as a Biomedical Scientist.

Specialist Qualification: Must hold the IBMS Specialist Diploma (Haematology with Hospital Transfusion Practice) or the BBTS Specialist Certificate. Candidates without a completed specialist portfolio or BBTS certification will not be considered for this Band 6 role.

UKTLC Compliance: The candidate must be able to demonstrate recent evidence of competency in a UK Transfusion environment to meet safety standards for lone-working/shift participation.

Full UK / ROI Drivers license and access to own car is essential

Right to work in the UK without VISA sponsorship

Technical Requirements

Haematology: Extensive experience with Sysmex XN-series analysers and track systems & Proficiency in film reading is Highly Desirable.

Coagulation: Extensive experience with ACL TOP analysers is Highly Desirable.

Transfusion: Full competency on Bio-Rad automation IH-500 or IH-1000 and manual gel card techniques (DiaMed).

LIMS: Proficiency in WinPath is preferred.
