Why this role matters

OurRural Youth Mental Health (RYMH) team provides individualised holistic and collaborative mental health support to young people 12-25 years across a range of communities in Western NSW. You will support young people to build their social and emotional well-being to recognise and manage their mental health through individualised therapeutic support group work and case management. Working collaboratively within communities and with a range of service partners you will reduce barriers for young people to engage with services and reduce the impact of mental health challenges.

Duties

  • Develop positive working relationships with young people to support their mental health recovery journey by identifying goals and developing individualised plans ensuring the client is actively engaged in the process.
  • Coordinate with other service providers including government departments and agencies schools health services GPs and allied health providers to ensure services are delivered.
  • Linkingyoung people toappropriate servicesto ensure holisticsupport isin place tofacilitaterecovery.
  • Contribute to and be an active participant in a small and supportive team environment.
  • Overnight travel is a requirementofthis position.

Skills and Experience

As an experienced Social Worker Psychologist Mental HealthWorkeror Case Manageryoullhave:

  • A relevantdegreequalification Mental Health Psychology Social Work Occupational Therapy or other health-related field and a current drivers license.
  • Experience supporting young people experiencing mental health challenges.
  • Experience working in ruralcommunitiesanability to develop andmaintaincommunity connections.
  • A holisticperson-centeredapproach with a calmreassuringand confident manner.
  • Experience conducting assessments providing case management psychological interventionscounsellingor group work.
  • Be a natural team player with the capacity to work independently and autonomously.
  • A demonstrated ability to provide outreachsupportsand well-developed travel and time management skills including a willingness to travel and stay overnight.
