About the Role
Were looking for a versatile Infrastructure Engineer (SRE/Python) to join our Technology team in Sydney. Youll play a critical role in supporting our high-frequency trading infrastructure as well as broader systems including analytics back-office and development environments.
Following modern SRE and DevOps principles youll focus on automation reliability and system-wide improvements. Youll also work closely with developers and business teams to ensure infrastructure is scalable secure and resilient.
Your Mission at Life Trading
Infrastructure & Reliability:
- Design implement and maintain infrastructure automation for provisioning and management
- Manage CI/CD pipelines to support rapid reliable application delivery
- Monitor system reliability using SLIs/SLOs and participate in incident response
- Conduct post-mortem analysis to drive continuous improvement
- Support trading back-office analytics and development/test environments
Collaboration & Improvement:
- Work with development teams to optimise deployment processes
- Implement infrastructure-as-code best practices using Terraform
- Contribute to capacity planning and scaling decisions
- Maintain strong change management discipline while proactively improving systems
What Were Looking For
- 35 years of experience in infrastructure engineering DevOps or SRE roles
- Strong Linux administration skills
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python Go or similar)
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform)
- Knowledge of CI/CD principles and container orchestration (Nomad Kubernetes)
- Familiarity with monitoring observability and version control (Git workflows)
- Networking fundamentals and configuration management experience (Ansible Salt Stack)
- Understanding of deployment strategies release management and system reliability principles
Bonus Points For
- Experience with SRE practices (SLOs error budgets blameless post-mortems)
- Knowledge of distributed systems and time-series databases
- Understanding of security best practices
- Exposure to low-latency trading systems
- Multi-cloud platform experience
- Experience with log aggregation and analysis
