About the role Mō te tūranga

Our Core Laboratory team is seeking a Trainee or Pre-Analytical Technician for a six-month fixed-term part-time role of 50 hours per fortnight that may be subject to review.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic state-of-the-art lab environment. Youll work alongside skilled professionals learning essential laboratory processes and contributing to accurate timely test results that directly support patient care.

In this role you will support the daily operations of the laboratory by performing a range of essential tasks. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail excellent organisational skills and a commitment to maintaining high-quality service and laboratory standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Barcoding receipting and preparing specimens as they arrive at the laboratory.
  • Entering patient and test details accurately into the system.
  • Answering telephones and handling enquiries professionally.
  • Work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Be willing to learn new skills and adapt to changing procedures.
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintain a friendly customer-focused approach at all times.
  • Show initiative and be self-sufficient in your day-to-day tasks.

  • A clean New Zealand Drivers Licence.
  • Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
