About the Role

The role requires an experienced IT Infrastructure leader/line manager with budgetary knowledge to assist in meeting the capacity demands of the IT Service help deliver an infrastructure to support the councils digital programme and introduce new skillsets into the team to enhance our desktop and security services. Ensuring the council operates a reliable and resilient IT infrastructure to support the organisation and its objectives is key therefore we are looking for individuals with plenty of drive & energy - not only to lead and motivate technical teams but to drive technical innovative & cultural change.

We are a large multi-disciplined IT and Digital function. You will find technical experts working alongside agile specialists project managers and change leads. We manage the day-to-day operation of a large organisation along with innovation improvement and change.

There is no average day you will be part of a larger IT technical function ensuring efficient and reliable running of the Councils technology solutions systems and infrastructure. You will work with internal colleagues external partners and suppliers to get the best out of existing technology investments. You will be involved in the day-to-day operation administration and support of key technologies within your remit.

About You

To apply for this post you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

  • Come with an NVQ level 4 (degree or equivalent) have a keen interest in managing a team of technical professionals in a substantial IT department and have customer focus.
  • Have a strong knowledge in IT Service Management principles and have experience of working in an environment governed by performance metrics and great customer service.
  • Have a flare for technical innovation and be able to lead a technical team and associated technology stacks in line with best practise and manufacturer lifecycle & roadmaps.
  • Demonstrate your ability to be the subject matter expert in the desktop & security space in a large Microsoft / Wintel based infrastructure.
  • Be able to demonstrate your experience in working as part of large project teams to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Have experience in dealing with external partners agencies suppliers service providers & contractors and managing their performance whilst also able to demonstrate your involvement in IT procurement activities.
  • Know how to communicate with senior leaders team managers other team leaders service users (both internally and externally) as well as key suppliers and partners.
