Senior Fire Engineer Calgary (Hybrid / RemoteFriendly)


About the Role


We are partnering exclusively with a wellestablished privately owned engineering consultancy specialising in fire protection life safety and building code services. With approximately 60 staff across four Canadian offices and a strong reputation for technical excellence this firm is seeking a Senior Fire Engineer to join their Calgary team. This role offers a hybrid working model with flexibility for remote work and the opportunity to contribute to complex highimpact projects across Canada.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver advanced fire protection engineering and life safety design services for diverse building types and project scales.
  • Conduct detailed building and fire code analysis ensuring designs meet applicable regulations and standards.
  • Prepare and present technical reports fire safety strategies alternative solutions and compliance documentation to clients and authorities.
  • Collaborate with architects structural and MEP engineers developers and regulatory authorities to integrate life safety solutions effectively.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers upholding high standards of quality and innovation.
  • Utilise fire modelling tools (e.g. CFD zone modelling) and performancebased design methodologies where appropriate.
  • Represent the consultancy in client meetings regulatory reviews and code negotiations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Fire Protection Engineering Civil/Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (.) designation in Alberta or eligibility to obtain licensure within Canada is highly desirable.
  • 710 years of relevant experience in fire engineering building code consulting or life safety design.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian building and fire codes fire protection systems and performancebased design principles.
  • Experience with fire and smoke modelling software and advanced analytical tools considered an asset.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to distil complex technical issues into clear reports and presentations.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor less senior staff.
