Teacher Temporary Summer Learning Program
Professional and temporary teaching staff are needed to teach the Summer Academy program which supports K-8 classes at Rochester Community Schools. Applications for these temporary positions will be accepted until they are filled.
Teachers will be expected to implement innovative instructional techniques to improve student achievement. Emphasis will be placed on higher-level thinking skills organizational skills integration of knowledge connecting learning to prior knowledge cooperative learning active learner participation and technology integration. A summary of what was covered in the program will be shared with parents via a written progress report on the programs last day. The actual number of positions depends on enrollment.
Classrooms will be structured with teachers who will co-plan and the absence of one co-teacher the other will be responsible for performing all regular professional duties without additional compensation. Substitute teachers are not available during this summers programming. Progress reports will be required for parents on the last day of the program.
McGregor Elementary
June-30 July 1 2 (12 days)
Staff Hours: 8:00 am 12:30 pm
Student Hours: 8:15 am 12:15 pm
Mandatory Staff Meeting and Room Prep: June 11th (8:00 am 12:30 pm)
Mandatory Clean-up/Check-out: July 2nd (stay until 1:00 pm)
Interviews are scheduled for March.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
- Desire to work with at-risk students.
- Willingness to work with students who need to be academically challenged.
- Must be available to work the entire length of the program.
SALARY:
The stipend of $ 2950 (funded through a grant) is contingent on meeting all designated working days and will be adjusted accordingly if any are missed. $50/hr x 59 hours
APPLICATION AND SELECTION CONSIDERATIONS:
Selection of an individual to fill these temporary positions will be determined by the Summer Learning Program administrators based upon applicant experience qualifications and professional attributes.
Interested and qualified applicants must complete an online application
to the high volume of applicants for positions within Rochester Community Schools it is not possible to personally contact every interested candidate. After a detailed paper screening of all candidate credentials is completed only applicants who will be invited to interview will receive contact from the Program Supervisor.
