The role requires an experienced IT Infrastructure technician who will leading on support maintenance and development of our Telephony & Unified Communications infrastructure. Ensuring the council operates a reliable and resilient IT infrastructure to support the organisation and its objectives is key therefore we are looking for individuals with plenty of drive & energy - not only to lead and motivate technical teams but to drive technical innovative & cultural change.

About You

To apply for this post you must:

  • Come with an NVQ level 4 (degree or equivalent) and have experience of working at a senior technical level in a large IT setting.
  • Have a strong knowledge in IT Service Management principles and have experience of working in an environment governed by KPIs SLAs and OLAs.
  • Have a flare for technical innovation and demonstrate your experience in managing and developing a range of technology stacks in line with best practise and manufacturer lifecycle & roadmaps.
  • Demonstrate your ability to be the subject matter expert in the Telephony & Unified Communications space in a large Microsoft / Wintel based infrastructure.
  • Be able to demonstrate your experience in working as part of large project teams to solve complex problems and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Know how to communicate with senior leaders team managers other team leaders service users (both internally and externally) as well as key suppliers and partners.
  • Have knowledge of good analytical/problem-solving skills numerate and strong technical flair.

About the team

You will be joining the Network Services Team within the IT Operations Service. The team is made up of a Technology Group who work very hard to supply a secure stable and reliable IT infrastructure not only for the organisation and its staff but more importantly the citizens of are supported by The IT Service Desk who provide the customer facing technical IT support for the organisation and the Service Delivery Team that provides robust Service Management support - together these teams deliver critical IT services to the authority.

What you will be doing

There is no average day you will be part of a larger IT technical function ensuring efficient and reliable running of the Councils technology solutions systems and infrastructure. You will work with internal colleagues external partners and suppliers to get the best out of existing technology investments. You will be involved in the day-to-day operation administration and support of key technologies within your remit.

This is an excitingtime and a fantastic opportunity to be part of an innovative modern and diverse IT function at Leicestershire County Council.

The advertised role is full-time posts working 37 hours per week with the occasional need to work outside of usual 9-5 business hours.
