About the Role
As the Vendor Verification Supervisor reporting to the Assistant Director of Financial Controls you will supervise the team that carries out Harris Countys supplier verification and fraud detection processes. By properly assigning and monitoring workflows this position ensures timely and accurate vendor verification banking transactions and payment approvals while safeguarding county resources against fraud. This role demands strong leadership attention to detail natural curiosity or inquisitiveness and an ability to maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign and monitor daily workflow for vendor verifications ACH payments and wire transfers
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and timelines for approvals
- Maintain and update verification logs and research documentation
- Investigate discrepancies and resolve issues promptly
- Collaborate with Purchasing Accounts Payable Treasury and other departments
- Train and cross-train staff to maintain knowledge continuity
- Prepare fraud reports and communicate findings to appropriate stakeholders
- Manage special projects (e.g. guardianship letters 1099 filing)

Education
- Bachelors degree in business or related field
Experience- Minimum 2 years of experience leading or managing others
- Vendor Maintenance and/or Accounts Payable experience or related role
Knowledge Skills & Abilities (KSAs)- Strong research investigative and analytical skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Keen attention to detail and investigative aptitude
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to motivate and lead a team while working collaboratively
- Customer service mindset with a proactive approach
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to multitask prioritize and maintain accuracy under deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Outlook and Excel)

Work Environment:
Work Schedule Monday - Friday 40 hrs. per week Exempt
Physical requirements include sitting for extended periods of time lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.
Occasional travel throughout Harris County will be required.
- May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek or on weekends when special projects or deadlines need to be met.
