Job Summary

As an Advisor you will be welcomed into the Business Management team as a valued and integral member of the group. This team forms part of a globally connected function that plays a pivotal role in supporting the firms lawyers and practice groups to deliver outstanding client service achieve operational excellence and drive strategic initiatives forward. You will work closely with both the local team and the wider global Business Management community benefitting from a collaborative inclusive and high-performing environment.

As trusted advisers to the legal teams Business Managers partner with the firms lawyers and practice groups ensuring they run smoothly efficiently and in alignment with the firms wider goals. The team also acts as a critical interface between legal and Business Teams ensuring alignment and effective communication across the firm. This role offers a varied portfolio of responsibilities and projects providing you with the opportunity to influence key outcomes and develop your career within a supportive and respected team.

As part of the EU Law & Policy team you will support the Firm lawyers and clients by proactively monitoring analysing and communicating EU law and policy developments relevant to the firms business. The role ensures both our lawyers and clients remain at the forefront of EU legislative and policy changes enabling timely and effective client service and legal advice.

Your key responsibilities

  • Conducts comprehensive research and analysis of current and upcoming EU legislation policy developments with emphasis on unpublished and early-stage proposals affecting the firms key client sectors.
  • Tracks relevant legislative processes and policy discussions within EU institutions ensuring the relevant practitioners are informed about key developments and timelines.
  • Attends and represents Linklaters in meetings conferences and EU association events; gathers synthesises and distributes actionable intelligence by preparing high-quality briefings alerts and summaries for the firms lawyers and clients.
  • Builds and maintains a strong professional network with EU institutions policymakers public affairs contacts sectoral associations and other informed sources in Brussels ensuring ongoing early access to emerging legal and regulatory change.
  • Prepares and delivers internal and client-facing materials such as knowledge updates newsletters training content and responses to client queries always prioritising relevance accuracy and clarity.
  • Designs and delivers internal and external training on EU legislative procedures and key policy developments enhancing the firms expertise and readiness.
  • Work closely with practice and sector groups knowledge lawyers and the Information & Research team to align information outputs to evolving business needs and allow for optimal knowledge sharing across the European offices and beyond.
  • Manages and maintains EU law & policy resources (such as wikis legal trackers and newsletters) ensuring these tools effectively support timely and practical delivery of EU knowledge to lawyers and clients.
  • Supports the development of the firms new business opportunities by contributing EU law content to client materials training and profile-building activities.

Your experience

  • Advanced degree (Masters or LL.M.) in European law political science economics or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of or experience in areas of justice and consumer protection sustainability and circularity and company law previous experiences on policy files related to these points is an advantage.
  • Experience in comprehensive research and analysis of current and upcoming EU legislation policy developments and their potential impact on the relevant sector. This research and analysis will require drafting knowledge management and knowledge sharing skills.
  • Proven expertise in EU legislative procedures institutional frameworks and relevant sectoral areas.
  • Extensive professional network among EU policymakers industry media and industry associations in the European policymaking context.
  • Excellent interpersonal networking communication and stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to drive best practice and ensure alignment with the Firms goals.
