Short Description

The Registered RN is a professional care-giver who as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self. Follows established policies and procedures. Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors. Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff management and physicians. Applies Cooper core values. Other duties as required.

Overview

The Childrens Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital is a pediatric facility that consists of several units that meet the diverse needs of pediatric patients: Pediatric unit Pediatric Intermediate unit (PIMU) Pediatric Kostic Infusion Room (PKIR) and Pediatric Intensive Care unit (PICU). We provide care for pediatric patients aged 0 to 18 years. We offer subspecialty services through consultation and referral in areas such as Endocrinology Genetics Infectious Diseases Neurology Neurosurgery Gastroenterology Otolaryngology Pediatric Surgery Trauma and Hematology. The Family-centered rounds are conducted daily with an interdisciplinary care team including physicians professional nursing services child life specialists social services and nutrition support. All our pediatric units are secured with restricted access for staff with visitors gaining entry via monitored access. All pediatric patients wear security tags to assure their safety. Our facilities include a teen room a spacious playroom for younger patients and a family waiting room. Our Pediatric unit and PIMU have 38-bed capacity. The Pediatric unit is in Kellemen building on South 7th and offers 26 beds.

Experience Required

2 years minimum RN pediatrics experience is required.

Education Requirements

Associates

Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing.

License/Certification Requirements

  • Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse).
  • Current NJ-BLSCertification(Basic Life Support).
  • Current NJ-CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) preferred.
  • Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS NALS PALS).
