About the Role

The Family Violence Team Leader is a key leadership position within the Children and Family Services portfolio. Baptcare delivers a range of free therapeutic family violence interventions to individuals children young people and families via from individual dyadic family or group sessions in the WAVES (Positive Wellbeing After Violence EndS) and SHIFT Positive Support and Healing creates Innovative Forward Thinking) programs.

WAVES Program offers therapeutic services for children young people and adults who are recovering from their experience of family violence. As a specialist family violence service the program aligns with best practice including a focus on person centered empowerment ongoing risk and safety assessment and collaboration with partner agencies such as the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) and other key partnerships ensuring culturally sensitive and trauma-informed care to victim survivors.

SHIFT offers therapeutic support to people who identify as female transwoman and non-binary and are over 18 years of age adopting a trauma informed approach to explore family safety and viable alternatives to their use of force in their intimate relationships. The Team Leader shares responsibility for overseeing day-to-day operations with a Co-Team Leader with shared responsibility for Baptcares family violence service offering.

The team leaders work collaboratively to lead out referral and intake assessments case management brief interventions.

These roles collectively ensure the delivery of culturally sensitive trauma-informed services across the Western Melbourne Brimbank and Melton local government areas in alignment with DFFH funding and strategic objectives of Family Safety Victoria and Baptcare.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational management and clinical oversight of the team including provision of supervision consultation and risk management during screening assessment and service delivery.
  • Lead and oversee day-to-day operations of the team including rostering group work waitlist management allocations caseloads performance management and professional development with guidance and support as required
  • Support and enable the implementation of evidence informed practice and ensure outcomes-based support to clients
  • Manage a small therapeutic caseload and assist with therapeutic groups as appropriate
  • Ensure adherence to relevant laws regulations and standards including risk assessment frameworks
  • Monitor service quality report on delivery and maintain compliance with guidelines
  • Manage and exercise delegation of operational budgets and financial performance against funding allocation
  • Foster and promote an environment and team culture that is safe inclusive accountable professional and service focussed
  • Ensure service delivery meets or exceeds the needs of the client/s and desired outcomes are promoted progressed or achieved
  • Assist in recruiting onboarding reporting budgeting recommend improvements and ensure policy alignment
  • Take on additional tasks as required to undertake the role

Key Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • Proficient people manager including ability to supervise coach and develop staff
  • Familiarity with program-funded environments and risk assessment frameworks
  • Ability to oversee operations including effective delegation and prioritisation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including negotiation and problem-solving
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of therapeutic models and theories to develop interventions that enable positive change
  • Evidence-informed understanding of child development and the impact of trauma and violence on adults children and young people
  • Ability to utilise individual face to face therapeutic skills with adults
  • Be self-directed and work autonomously and demonstrate excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of information sharing in the context of family violence provisions and the child information sharing scheme aligning with the MARAM Framework
  • Ability to undertake client centred therapeutic assessments and develop a therapeutic goal plan in partnership with the client that reflects the individual needs of the client
  • Ability to adjust to meet the changing situations of the client group while maintaining focus on delivery and follow-through
  • Strong computer skills and use of full suite of Microsoft office
