What are we looking for

Under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor the Laboratory Technicianis responsible forprocessingclient samples through the laboratory from sample preparation and analysis through to the recording ofanalytical resultsand preparingreports to ensure compliance withIntertek operating procedures ISO17025 standard and Client requirements ina timelyand efficient manner.

Shift/Schedule: 12 hour rotating shifts

What youll do:

  • Ensure all sampling testing and analytical activities are conducted safely accurately andin accordance withestablished quality standards

  • Participate in daily pre-start meetings shift handovers safety meetings and other required operational communications

  • Prepare samples using approved digestion and dissolution methodsin accordance withlaboratory work instructions and test methodsutilizingappropriate personalprotective equipment (PPE)

  • Undertake sample analysisin accordance withdocumented Intertek laboratory proceduresdemonstratingthe ability to work independently and without direct supervision oncedeemedcompetent

  • Effectively manage workload by multitasking and self-managing multiple jobs tomaximizetimeutilizationand meet operational priorities

  • Operate laboratory equipment including sample preparation equipmentin accordance withtraining and safe work procedures

  • Complete workin a timely mannerin line with priorities set by the Lab Supervisor or Lab Manager including sample receipt preparation analysis and instrumentation duties.

  • Perform routine laboratory housekeeping and weekly maintenance tasks involving reasonable manual handling tomaintaina cleanorganized and contamination-free work environment including work surfaces safety cabinets and equipment.

  • Maintainaccuraterecords by completing laboratory worksheets and updating Excel spreadsheets and other required systemsin accordance withlaboratory procedures.

  • Adhere to work deadlines and quality requirements as directed by the Lab Supervisor or Lab Manager

  • Provide quality control support to colleagues and escalate non-conformancesin accordance withlaboratory procedures

  • Ensure quality records for the work area are updated daily andmaintainedin accordance withthe laboratory quality management system and ISO 17025 best practice

  • Provide technical support within the scope of individual training competency andauthorizationwhenrequired

  • Comply withall applicable work instructions work procedures safe work procedures safe work instructions and lawful directions provided by the supervisor whether written or verbal

  • Participate in risk management activities including the completion of risk assessments and hazard controls

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Ability to safely perform manual handling tasks including standing for extended periods and regularly lifting items weighingapproximately 50 poundsin accordance withsafe work practices

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills suitable for a laboratory and production environment

  • Ability to work independently once trained while managing a fluctuating workload and changing priorities

  • Capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment whilemaintainingsafety and quality standards

  • Strong practical problem-solving skills with sound mechanical aptitude relevant to sample preparation equipment

  • Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team to support operational and production requirements

  • Valid drivers license and reliable driving record is required

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree preferred
  • Two years of experience working in a Gold or Base Metals laboratory
