SUMMARY: The interventionist will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to help improve the academic achievement of all students. The interventionist will provide support in gathering analyzing and interpreting data to guide instruction and intervention services. The primary focus of this job is to analyze building-level data and to use this data to develop a plan for multi-tiered system of order to meet this purpose the interventionist and classroom teacher will provide personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs of individual students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned
- Support the vision mission and commitments of the Chillicothe R-II School District.
- Facilitate high-quality ongoing job-embedded professional development for teachers.
- Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
- Develop and maintain a confidential non-evaluative supportive relationship with teachers.
- Facilitate mutual problem solving to assist teachers in implementing new teaching practices
- Expand teachers use of a variety of resources to improve instruction.
- Work one-on-one and in small groups with teachers providing guidance training and other resources as needed. Together they focus on practical strategies for engaging students and improving their learning.
- Document the work they are doing with classroom teachers to help students meet identified goals.
- Provide support in gathering analyzing and interpreting data.
- Evaluate student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention and support services.
- Monitor intervention programs by observing and meeting with teachers.
- Assist teachers with designing instructional decisions based on assessment data.
- Assist teachers with specific classroom activities when requested.
- Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.
- Co-teach using effective teaching practices
- Manage time and schedule flexibility that maximizes teacher schedules and learning.
- Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals.
- Possess an understanding of when to contact administrators regarding issues of safety/ethics involving students in classroom observed.
- Attend workshops/conferences to learn about new innovative instructional strategies.
- Collaborate on a regular basis with the building administrator and district federal programs director.
- Assist administrators and teachers by providing monitoring training and tools that support transition to high quality standards and aligned authentic assessments.
- Understand and apply strategies that cultivate learner engagement.
- Evaluates students academic and social growth keeps appropriate records as mandated by ESSA legislation and prepares progress reports and shares information with parents and guardians.
- Promotes parent participation and involvement in educational activities. Conduct yearly parent meetings to explain and evaluate Title programs.
- Operate Title programs according to federal ESSA legislation and guidelines.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Serves on District committees as assigned.
- Observes confidentiality regarding students and staff when communicating to others.
- Observes all policies rules and regulations of the Board of Education as stated in the Board of Education policies.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises classroom students aides volunteers and areas as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree in Education. Master Degree of Education preferred.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS: Missouri Teaching Certificate for Reading Specialist or other Reading certifications.
EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine month employee. Salary is to be established by the Board of Education.
