Idaho Power located in New Plymouth Idaho is looking for a Generation Technician to join our Combined Cycle Power Plant crew. Its an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Generation Technician do for us

With minimal to no supervision they design install maintain and test power plant equipment and control systems. They install and maintain communications equipment SCADA equipment protective relays telecommunications equipment HVAC equipment and miscellaneous electrical equipment. They also provide technical resource support for the Generation Specialists and perform project and site leader duties for electrical installation projects.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE

Knowledge of:

  • Electrical theory fundamentals
  • Instrumentation & Controls
  • AC and DC Control circuits
  • Water Treatment Analyzers
  • Troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation and electrical equipment
  • Programming and application of PCs PLCs HMIs and SCADA RTUs
  • Low and medium voltage wiring (up to 4160V)

Preferred:

  • Distributed Control Systems (preferably Siemens T-3000) Allen Bradley PLC CEMS (Continuous Emission Monitoring System) and Protective Relays

Skills in:

  • Reading and understanding P&IDs wiring diagrams and schematics used by various equipment vendors

Ability to:

  • Maintain high productivity with minimal supervision
  • Communicate effectively
  • Establish positive working relationships in a team-based environment
  • Conflict resolution


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED

AND

  • Associates degree in electronics

OR

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship training program recognized by the Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship (OA)

OR

  • An equivalent combination of appropriate education work and military experience that provides the desired knowledge skills and abilities

Preferred:

  • Associates degree in electronics instrumentation and controls or electrical technology

Experience:

  • 5 years of work experience in electrical electronics instrumentation and control control systems integration or a related field

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Job requires the ability to bend stoop squat crouch crawl ascend/descend ladders and stairs twist kneel balance and reach. Must be able to occasionally lift shoulder-high and above items weighing up to 25 lbs. and rarely up to 50 lbs.; occasionally lift waist-high and knee-high items weighing up to 50 lbs. and rarely up to 75 lbs. Occasionally use exertional force of up to 50 lbs. to push/pull items. Occasionally carry with one hand items weighing up to 50 lbs. or with two hands items weighing up to 50 lbs. and rarely up to 75 lbs. Must be able to operate foot controls on vehicles; grasp tools and test equipment; and use fine motor skills on a computer keyboard. Applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the job without posing a direct threat of harm to self others or property. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Respond to emergencies outside of normal working hours or on holidays and work out of town for extended periods of time when required with much of that time to be spent performing power plant related work. Requires ability to participate in on-call responsibilities on a rotating basis which may include nights weekends and holidays. Extended hours may be required during plant outages.

Must be able to respond and live within the assigned boundaries for the region in a 60-minute time frame. Able to multiple work locations for Gas Operations (Langley Gulch Danskin and Bennett Mountain Power Plant).


Job requires the employee to obtain and wear company provided and approved safety footwear and FR clothing.
