Position:Automotive Mechanic
Reports to:Automotive Mechanic Foreperson/Coordinator
Supervises: None
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Valid State School bus certification and all health and employment standards required.
- Technical training and/or appropriate years experience set by Board.
- Commercial Drivers License required (will train).
- Good aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal: To keep all district vehicles and buses in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair district buses and automotive fleet.
- Knowledge of major repair to buses and all district automotive fleet including gasoline and diesel overhaul transmissions workbench overhaul and welding.
- Proficiency and qualification to operate all buses support and service vehicles.
- Uses preventive maintenance to all automotive fleet and shop equipment maintaining a high quality of workmanship safety standards good housekeeping and a cooperative attitude with co-workers.
- Drive bus route as necessary.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Employment Terms: Twelve (12) month classified hourly contract
